A nice idea for a melon salad on a buffet table. A basket of watermelon filled with juicy melon balls and grapes.

  • 1 watermelon small round and seedless
  • 1 melon e.g. sugar melon
  • 20 g grapes light
  • 20 g grapes dark


  • Cut a thin slice off the bottom of the watermelon to give it a secure hold.
  • Cut the melon twice from the top to the half, leaving a handle about 4 cm wide between the cuts.
  • Cut into the melon from the side to the handle and cut out the top quarters.
  • Pry out the flesh with a baller, creating small balls.
  • Cut the sugar melon in half.
  • Scrape out the seeds with a tablespoon.
  • Cut out balls from the melon pulp as well.
  • Wash the grapes and remove them from the stems.
  • Fill the melon basket with watermelon balls and sugar melon balls.
  • Mix in light and dark grapes.
  • Keep melon salad in the refrigerator until serving.


The remaining melon pulp in the melon, which can no longer be removed with the baller, can be scraped out with a tablespoon.From the accumulated melon juice and pulp can be mixed a delicious and refreshing melon smoothie.
