Chicken gyros

  • 500 g chicken thighs removed from the bones
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp oregano dried
  • 1 tsp mint dried
  • 1 tsp paprika powder red
  • 1 tsp salt

Tzatziki sauce

  • 120 g yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tablespoon dill chopped
  • salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

To serve

  • 3-4 pita patties
  • 1 handful arugula
  • 3-4 to matoes


  • Mix chicken thigh fillet with oil, lemon juice, chopped garlic, oregano, mint, paprika powder as well as salt in a bowl.
  • Leave to marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Warm the pita patties in a dry pan and cover with a towel until ready to use.
  • Fry chicken thigh fillet in a pan with oil for about 10 minutes all around until cooked.
  • Let rest for about 5-7 minutes before slicing.

For the tzatziki yogurt sauce with dill

  • Coarsely grate cucumber on a grater, drain cucumbers in a colander.
  • Then squeeze the cucumber water out of the cucumbers.
  • Press the garlic through the press.
  • Chop the dill.
  • Mix the yogurt with the grated cucumbers, garlic and dill in a small bowl.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Put some of the tzatziki on a flatbread, spread arugula and tomato slices on top.
  • Lay out the sliced chicken and roll into a roll.
  • Serve Gyros Pita immediately.
