Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg pears
  • 1 kg sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 lemon untreated
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Wash, halve and core the pears.
  • Cut the fruit into wedges.
  • Bring water and sugar to a boil in a deep saucepan.
  • Over medium heat, simmer the syrup until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Add the pears and simmer the fruit over low heat until tender.
  • Grate the lemon peel on a fine grater.
  • Cook the jam for 2 hours, stirring regularly.
  • At the end of cooking, add the grated lemon peel.
  • Pour the finished pear jam into screw jars and seal well.

Notes

The pear jam tastes best as a spread on bread. The jam from pears is also used for desserts and cake recipes.
