Fancy an autumnal cake? You can make a great tart with quinces, because they not only look great, they smell wonderfully delicious on a shortbread base.

Ingredients
  

Shortcrust pastry

  • 150 g sugar
  • 200 g butter
  • 300 g flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 package vanilla sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk

Topping

  • 300 g quinces or apples
  • 1 package vanilla sugar
  • 5 tsp water
  • 4 tbsp sugar

Instructions
 

Prepare topping

  • Wash apples or quinces and cut into small wedges.
  • Dissolve the sugar in a pot of water.
  • Add the quince slices or apples.
  • Let everything simmer for about 12 minutes.

Prepare the dough

  • Prepare a short pastry with the sugar, butter, flour, egg, baking powder, vanilla sugar and milk.
  • Line the bottom and sides of a springform pan or tart pan with the dough.
  • Spread the apples on the dough.
  • Bake the quince tart on the middle rack at 200°C for about 25-30 minutes.
