Butter cookies are the classics among Christmas cookies. Santa cookies taste delicious and are perfect for a festive table.

  • 200 g butter soft
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 4 drops butter-vanilla flavoring
  • 300 g flour


  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • 1-2 squirts lemon juice
  • Food coloring red
  • 10 g fondant black
  • sugar sticks red black
  • Coconut flakes optional
  • sugar sprinkles optional


Prepare the dough

  • Put butter, powdered sugar, egg yolks and butter vanilla flavoring in a glass bowl.
  • Sift in flour and knead everything into a dough.
  • Cover the dough with cling film and put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 170°C convection oven.
  • Cover a baking tray with baking paper.
  • Roll out the dough and cut out with a Santa cookie cutter.
  • Place the cookies on the prepared tray.
  • Bake the Christmas cookies in the oven at 170 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
  • Let the cookies cool down.

For decorating

  • Mix powdered sugar with egg white and lemon juice to make white and red icing.
  • Decorate the Santa cookies with the icing as desired and let set.
  • Make the Santa boots out of the black fondant.
  • Decorate Santa cookies face with the sugar crayons and let dry.
