The perfect combination of a juicy beef burger with melted cheese, a tangy garlic sauce and the sweet onions. These burgers are insanely tasty and very delicious. The caramelized onions add a special touch to the burgers.

Caramelized onions

  • 2 onions
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp sugar

Garlic sauce

  • 2 sprigs basil
  • 2 sprigs parsley
  • 1 sprig rosemary
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 100 g mayonnaise
  • Black pepper to taste


  • 450 g beef ground
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • ½ tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 4 slices cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • 50 g arugula or lettuce


Prepare caramelized onions

  • Peel onion and cut into very thin slices.
  • Heat the butter in a frying pan.
  • Put in onions, sprinkle with salt and sugar.
  • Let caramelize over low heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Prepare garlic sauce

  • Chop the herbs very finely.
  • Press the garlic through a garlic press.
  • Mix the mayonnaise with the herbs and garlic and season with pepper.

Prepare the burger

  • Mix minced meat with salt and pepper in a bowl.
  • Form 4 patties from the ground meat mixture.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan.
  • Melt half of the butter.
  • Fry the patties over very high heat for 2-3 minutes.
  • Then turn the patties over and fry for another 2 minutes.
  • Place a slice of cheese on top of each patty.
  • Fry for another minute until cheese is melted.
  • Cut the buns in half lengthwise and spread with the remaining butter.
  • Toast in a skillet until golden brown.
  • Then spread the garlic sauce on the bun halves.
  • Place arugula lettuce, patty and the caramelized onions on the bottom half of the buns.
  • Cover with the top half of the buns and serve immediately.
  • Burgers with caramelized onions are a great homemade fast food that goes wonderfully with lunch or dinner.
