  • 1 kg sloes pitted
  • 800-1000 g sugar
  • 250-300 ml water
  • 1 pinch citric acid


  • Put the berries in a bowl and remove the seeds.
  • Then transfer them to a pot.
  • Sprinkle with sugar, there should be a layer of sugar on top.
  • The amount of sugar depends on the sweetness of the berries.
  • It is best to put in 800 g of sugar first. If needed, add more sugar later when cooking.
  • Leave the fruit in the sugar for about 12 hours.
  • Juice should form in the process.
  • Then pour the water into the pot with the sloes.
  • Stir the whole thing and bring to a boil.
  • Turn the heat down to low.
  • Cook the jam for 40-50 minutes.
  • Stir occasionally and remove foam.
  • Finally, add the citric acid.
  • Pour the jam into sterilized jars.
  • Close the jam jars tightly.
  • Cool sloe jam under a blanket or sheet.
