This Caucasian specialty is really delicious. The thinly rolled out dough is prepared with a filling of minced meat and vegetables. Then cooked in a steamer – the manti are incredibly aromatic, tasty and filling. Just the thing when guests need to be served something special.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 250 ml water
  • 450-500 g flour

Filling

  • 800 g pork
  • 500 g potatoes
  • 4-5 onions
  • 2-3 cloves garlic
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Prepare the dough

  • Whisk together egg, salt and cold water in a bowl.
  • Add flour and knead into a dough.
  • Wrap in plastic wrap and let rest while preparing filling.

Prepare filling

  • Peel vegetables.
  • Cut meat, potatoes and onions into small pieces.
  • Press garlic through the press.
  • Mix all together, season with salt and pepper.

Prepare manti

  • Divide the dough into several portions.
  • Roll out each of the portions into a thin patty.
  • Then cut into squares with sides 12 to 15 cm long.
  • Place filling in the center of each square piece.
  • Lift all four corners towards the center and pinch them together, joining them at the edges and in the center.
  • Join both corners that were made.
  • Prepare remaining manti in same manner.
  • Brush the individual bottoms of a steamer, multi-cooker or special manti pot with oil or butter.
  • Place manti on them at intervals and steam for about 40-45 minutes.
  • Arrange finished manti on the plate and serve hot.

The manti taste wonderful with sour cream or a sauce of your choice.
